"…Grandpa Germania…..Why would you ask me something like that?"

"Vell I'd like to know ven I can expect great-grandchildren."

"…………Ludwig and I aren't even officially a couple. How could we possibly be having sex already."

"I don't know vat kinds of things you young people get into. Don't most people have sex at your age?"

"Some of them, yes. But not us."

"Vell you should get on zat. I'm not getting any younger."

Ah, what lovely conversations you'd started having with Walthari ever since Ludwig had asked you out on a date.

You and Ludwig had now known each other for almost three months and had been on multiple dates but weren't officially dating yet. Walthari had yet to let that fact go. He was impatient for the two of you to really be together and didn't see why that hadn't happened yet. It was amusing in its way, but kind of embarrassing because you didn't want Ludwig to just drop the whole thing all together because he felt rushed.

You definitely wouldn't have minded being Ludwig's girlfriend, but you were also happy that the two of you had progressed to something beyond just friends. And you didn't want to lose what you had only recently gained, so you didn't see why a fuss would need to be made.

"Hallo Großvater, (Name)." You and Walthari turned to the door, smiles on both of your faces.

"Hallo Ludvig," Walthari returned, lifting a hand in greeting.

"Hey Ludwig," you said, resting a hand on his arm and leaning up to press a kiss to his cheek. "How are you?"

"I am fine, (Name)," he said, smiling down at you. "How are you?"

"I'm good. Grandpa Germania has been asking his questions." Ludwig sighed and sent a look at his grandfather, who only smiled as though he had no idea what you meant.

"Großvater, you really shouldn't be asking us things like zat."

"But it's as I told (Name). I vould like great-grandchildren." You and Ludwig just sighed. Sadly, you were both far too used to inquiries such as this. The first time he'd asked, of course you both had blushed furiously and freaked out. But now it was almost commonplace.

"So vat brings you here today, Ludvig?"

"I came to say hello and to ask (Name) if she vas free zis evening."

"Ah. Getting to work on those great-grandchildren finally. You'll be free, right (Name)?"

"Grandpa Germania!" you scolded, blushing this time at his insinuation before turning to Ludwig. "Yes I'm free tonight, Ludwig. What did you have in mind?"

"Vould you like to come to my house for dinner?" You beamed at him, making him blush.

"I would love to, Ludwig! What time would you like me to come over?"

"Actually, I vas hoping to just bring you back with me as soon as you're done here. If you don't mind, zat is."

"How bold of you, Ludvig," Walthari chimed in, ignoring the looks being shot at him.

"Großvater, it's not like zat!" Ludwig insisted. You laughed and lightly tossed a pillow at the old man, making him chuckle.

"That works for me, Ludwig. I'm about done anyway. Maybe I can see about getting out early. The sooner I'm away from this old coot, the better."

"Zat is not how you should talk to your elders, mein Kind."

"Like that's ever stopped me before."

In no time at all, you and Ludwig were bidding farewell to Walthari and making your way to Ludwig's car. Like the gentleman he was, he held open all of the doors for you and made sure to shorten his longer strides so that you could walk comfortably. And he didn't feel the need to make unnecessary chatter; a fact you couldn't help but enjoy. You never liked making things awkward by filling silences with mindless conversation. And it would seem that Ludwig felt exactly the same, because the whole car ride was spent in a comfortable silence.

Ludwig pulled into his driveway, shut off his car, and hurried over to open your door for you. With a giggle, you took his offered hand and stepped out.

"You certainly make a girl feel special, Ludwig," you said, letting him lead you into his home.

"Zat may be true, but I'd rather just make you feel special," he said, with a little uncharacteristic confidence. You blushed in surprise and smiled shyly at him. It was still a new thing for you to be complimented in such a way.

"So what did you have in mind for dinner, Ludwig?" You followed his lead and removed your shoes in the entryway and watched as his face turned red at your question.

"U-um, I vas thinking of making vurst and…potatoes." A laugh escaped you when you heard his answer. He'd told you before that that was his favorite meal and that he ate it a little too often.

"I-I can make something else, if you don't vant zat," he offered, only now considering the possibility that you might think him odd for making something he ate all the time.

"No, no. It's fine," you said, smiling at him. "I've actually never had wurst, so I'm looking forward to this." Ludwig sighed in relief and went into the kitchen with you right behind him.

"Zat is good. I'm sorry ze place is such a mess. I didn't have a chance to clean today."

"….Ludwig, the place is spotless. What the heck are you talking about."

"Zere is clutter everywhere! And zere are stains all over ze kitchen. How do you not see it?" You sighed and looked around the room.

"Ludwig, seriously. I see nothing wrong with your house. It's almost perfect."

"I'm not so sure, but danke." You chuckled and patted his arm.

"No problem. Do you want help with dinner?"

"Nein. I invited you here, so I vill make ze meal."

"Are you sure you don't want help? Your hands are shaking."

"Vat? No they--," Ludwig stopped as he stared at the mentioned appendages to see them trembling. He frowned and clenched them. It would seem that his nerves were affecting him more than he'd thought.

With a shaky sigh, Ludwig turned to you, hands still clenched.

"I suppose I should get zis over with so I don't accidentally hurt one of us," he said as his eyes flickered to everything in the room but you.

"Get what over with?" you asked, a little worried. Had he invited you here to tell you he wasn't interested in you anymore? You started feeling nauseous as you thought of that. Was that it? Had you done something wrong? You two weren't even a couple and he was ending things already.

Ludwig took a deep breath and gently held your hands in his.

"(Name)…I have really enjoyed ze time ve have spent together but--,"

"I understand, Ludwig." He looked at you, confused.

"Was?"

"You don't want to see me anymore. I understand. I can just go now if you wa—"

"Nein, zat's not it at all!" Now you looked at Ludwig in confusion.

"Then what is it?" Ludwig's face, ears, and neck turned red as he inhaled again.

"V-vill you be…meine Freundin?"

"Your…what?" Ludwig heaved a sigh at his second failed attempt.

"My girlfriend."

"YES!!" you squealed, throwing your arms around his neck. "I-I mean…yes, I'd like that very much." Ludwig chuckled and held you close, resting his chin on your head.

"Das gut, (Name). You don't know how happy you've made me." You giggled and nuzzled into his neck.

"I think I might have an idea of what you're feeling. Cause I'm feeling the same."

--Extended Ending—

"So how vas your date last night?" Walthari asked you as soon as you entered his room.

"Ludwig asked me to be his girlfriend," you informed him, a huge smile on your face. Walthari smiled warmly at you and patted your arm.

"Zat is wunderbar, mein Kind. I am very happy for you."

"Thank you, Grandpa Germania."
