You slowly sat up and realized that everyone had gone silent at your movement. Hesitantly, you opened your eyes and looked around.
Well great. You were in the middle of a World Meeting.
Before you could react in any way, a cheery strawberry-blond boy was sitting on the table in front of you, grinning widely.
"Hello! What a pretty lady you are! How did you fall out of the ceiling like that? Can you do magic? Oh, could you teach me how to do what you did? I would love to be able to teleport places!" You simply stared at this person, unable to get a word in. But you didn't need to because another young man was leaning on the table to your left.
"Romania, she probably has no idea what's going on."
"But Bulgaria! She came out of nowhere! I want to know how she did it!"
"Look at her. I don't even think she knows how she did it." Both men looked at you and you flinched back a little bit. You really didn't like having all of this attention on you.
"So do you know how you got here?" Romania asked you. You slowly shook your head and watched his head drop in disappointment.
"Now I won't ever learn how to teleport!" he cried, flinging himself onto his back dramatically. You looked at him in shock before glancing at Bulgaria who sighed.
"Don't worry. He's always like this," he explained. "So what's your name?"
"U-uh, I'm (Full Name)." Romania decided to spring back up at this point and practically landed in your lap.
"(Name). What a pretty name! I'm Romania! Or Vlad if you prefer." He stuck a hand in your face and you gently took it and pulled it down to a normal level before shaking it properly.
"It's nice to meet you, Vlad." He grinned at you and turned to point at Bulgaria.
"That's Bulgaria. You can call him"
"Just Bulgaria is fine," he interrupted. Vlad frowned at him but quickly smiled again when he looked at you.
"So since you don't know where you are, can I assume you don't have a place to stay?" You barely managed to nod, let alone answer, before he'd grabbed you in a hug.
"That's great! Uh, not that you being homeless is a good thing but this just means you can stay with me!"
"You don't have to do that," you mumbled into his chest, trying to breathe.
"I think you're suffocating (Name), Romania." Vlad immediately loosened his hold on you, but didn't completely let go. But it was less constricting, so you shot a thankful look at Bulgaria who grinned at you.
"You are living with me, and that is final!" Vlad said cheerfully, swaying you back and forth. You just sighed and decided to give in. He clearly wasn't going to take "no" for an answer.
"Alright, Vlad. I'll stay with you. Thank you for the offer." He grinned before whisking you out of the meeting room, despite the many protests that the meeting wasn't over. It wasn't too much later that he had gotten you into his car, driven off, and arrived at his home. He called it a home, but it was a castle; just like the kind you'd see in old Dracula movies. Vlad excitedly took your hand and took you on a tour of his enormous "house."
He had just led you to his library when a question popped into your head.
"Vlad, why are you so eager to have me stay here?" Vlad looked back at you and tilted his head. Unconsciously, you tilted your head in response, which he noticed and smiled at.
"Am I making you uncomfortable?"
"No," you said, shaking your head. "But I'm a stranger."
"No you're not! I know your name and you know mine! That means we're not strangers!" You laughed at his childish reasoning but decided that it wouldn't be so bad living with him.
"Ok, Vlad. I won't ever doubt you again." Vlad smiled wide and grabbed your hand again to pull you out of the library and down the hall.
"Good! Because I still have to show you my Count Dracula room!"
"You seriously have one of those?"
You sighed and closed the book you'd been reading in favor of staring out of the window next to you. As you looked at the gorgeous scenery you couldn't help but let your mind wander. And in your wandering, you thought of just how lucky you'd been to end up in this world. It had been a year ago today that you'd wound up here and you were glad no one had figured out how to send you back. Vlad, Arthur, and Lukas had all brainstormed multiple times, but couldn't figure anything out. But after a while you just told them it was fine and not to worry about it. Vlad had seemed especially happy to listen to you, but you had no idea why. You guessed he just enjoyed having someone to live with.
That thought led you to thinking about how your feelings for Vlad had morphed from friendly to much more than friendly. But he was a country. He had better things to do than try a relationship with a silly human girl that didn't even really belong here.
You wanted to groan at how depressing that sounded. But instead you got up and headed out of the castle to a small field that Vlad had cleaned up just for you. With a small smile, you settled down on the grass and opened up your book again. You got so caught up in the story that you didn't notice Vlad making his way over to you.
Two hands settled over your eyes, effectively stopping your reading.
"Vlad, you goof. What are you doing?" Vlad chuckled and removed his hands from your face to your shoulders as he kneeled down.
"How do you always know it's me?" You snorted and lightly elbowed his stomach.
"Who else would it be?"
"Good point. So guess what today is."
"No, silly! It's the anniversary of when you came here!" Vlad exclaimed and wrapped his arms around you in a hug. You laughed and placed one hand on his arms.
"Hard to believe, huh?" you asked. You felt Vlad nod before he pulled away and stood up. Turning, you looked up at him and noticed that his hands were behind his back.
"Did you buy something when you went to town?" Vlad grinned mischievously and nodded. You quirked an eyebrow and waited for him to tell you what he got. When he didn't say anything you reached up and poked his stomach, making him laugh.
"Are you gonna tell me what you got?"
"How badly do you wanna know?" Vlad asked in a sing-song kind of voice. You rolled your eyes and leaned back on one hand.
"Well I wouldn't mind hearing what you got." His grin widened and he whipped his arms around to the front to show you what he'd been hiding.
"Happy Anniversary!" he cheered, holding up a gorgeous emerald green dress that you'd had your eye on forever. While you gaped at what Vlad had bought, he began explaining why he had it.
"I've seen you looking at this dress every time we've gone into town, so I thought I could get it for you as a present. I had to get it a while ago though, just in case they ran out. I guessed your measurements, so if you try it on and it doesn't fit, we can go back and get it fitted
But if you don't actually want it I underOOF!" You cut him off as you launched yourself at him in a hug, knocking the two of you to the ground.
"I can't believe you did this, Vlad. I love it," you said, lifting yourself off of him slightly to smile down at him.
"Oh good," he said, sighing in relief. "I got worried for a moment that you didn't actually want this one."
"Even if I didn't I would still love it, just because you got it for me," you said, laughing. Vlad blushed and smiled at you.
"I like everything you give me, Vlad."
hopefully you'll like this." And with that, he gently cradled the back of your head and pulled you down for a kiss. Your eyes widened in surprise but quickly shut as you kissed him back. Vlad pulled away just enough to speak.
"I love you, (Name)," he whispered, lips brushing against your own.
"I love you too, Vlad," you said, just as softly. You felt him smile just before he kissed you again. You wouldn't be able to say nothing ever happened to you again.
