A quiet sigh escaped you as you flopped down on the hill behind your house. This was the first moment of relaxation you’d gotten all week. In a few days, you would be moving out of your parents’ house into your very first apartment. You were finally going to be on your own, a fact that partially terrified you because it meant you were growing up. You were really truly going to be an adult. But despite that you couldn’t wait to get everything set up in your new place, although the packing up bit was slowly killing you.
BOOM! CRASH!! BANG!!!
…Especially when Alfred decided to help.
You groaned and rolled onto your stomach before pushing yourself up and heading back inside.
“Alfred, if I have to go buy another dresser because of you, I am not going to be happy,” you called out as you stepped inside. A nervous chuckle was all you heard before the sound of someone dashing out of your front door reached your ears.
“Sorry about him, (Name),” said a quiet voice.
You grinned as Matthew, your best friend since diaper days, came out of the living room.
“Don’t worry about it, Mattie. I’ll get him back later. So what’s the damage this time?”
Matthew lightly scratched his cheek as he looked back into the living room. “He broke the nightstand and snapped a curtain pole.”
“…I’m not going to be able to afford my apartment after this.”
“I could buy you new ones…i-if you want.”
“Aw, no you don’t have to do that, Mattie.”
“B-but I’d like to. They can be house warming gifts.”
You smiled a bit at the determined look that was growing on Matthew’s face. He wasn’t one for pushing things onto other people but, for some reason when it came to you, he was ready and willing to do anything if he thought it would make you happy.
“Alright, Mattie, thanks. Do you wanna go now?” He barely finished nodding before you were grabbing his hand and dragging him outside, deciding it was a nice enough day to just walk to the nearest stores.
You zoned out as the two of you made your way down the street, not realizing you were still holding Matthew’s hand or that it was starting to sweat lightly in your grip.
Poor Matthew was about to have a heart attack. He had loved you for quite some time now, but was way too shy to say anything. And you always seemed to prefer your other friends over him. I mean, yeah you hung out with him a lot, but every time you’d ever mentioned a guy, they were almost the complete opposite of him. Funny, charming, loud, outspoken, and basically everything he could never be.
But today, he was planning on changing that. He could only hope you’d accept him.
Blinking rapidly, you realized that you and Matthew were standing in front of one of the small furniture stores in town.
“…When did we get here?”
“We’ve been standing here for a couple minutes, (Name),” Matthew said, smiling lightly. You blushed and quickly dragged him inside, earning a quiet chuckle from him.
The two of you browsed through the store, examining different pieces of furniture and trying to figure out which nightstand would be best to replace the old one. After maybe an hour, you finally settled on one which Matthew paid for after you gave them your address for delivery.
“Thanks again, Mattie,” you said, beaming as you gave him a sideways hug. Matthew just smiled and carefully returned the hug.
“Anything for you, (Name).”
“Really, Mattie. What would I do without you.”
Matthew blushed lightly but didn’t say anything, getting more and more nervous the closer the two of you got to your house.
As soon as you stepped inside your doorway, hands covered your eyes.
“M-Mattie? What’s going on?”
“Just…trust me? I have a s-surprise for you.”
You nodded, holding your hands out as Matthew carefully and slowly led you to wherever he was planning on taking you. He kept one hand over your eyes and one arm around your waist as he pulled you along to your backyard. You felt him take his hands away and turned your head towards where you guessed his face was, keeping your eyes closed.
“You can…can open your e-eyes now, (Name).”
You gasped quietly as you saw a cute little picnic set up under the tree that the two of you had named “your tree.” You grinned at him as you took his hand and pulled him over, kneeling down and looking over the food that was set out.
“All my favorites?” you questioned, looking up at him. Matthew offered you a shy smile as he nodded and sat next to you. You giggled and lightly shoved his shoulder.
“What’s all this for, Mattie?” you teased. “I hope you’re not planning on proposing.”
You blinked as Matthew almost choked on air, lightly patting his back as he tried getting his breathing under control.
“…I was only kidding, Mattie.”
“I-I know that… But I… I have something I need to tell you, (Name).”
You stayed silent, resting your hand on his knee in an attempt to reassure him. Matthew grabbed your hand in both of his, playing with your fingers as he avoided looking at you.
“I love you…”
“What was that, Mattie? I couldn’t hear you.”
“I love you…”
“You’re gonna have to try one more time, cause I can’t understand you when you—“
“I love you!”
You leaned back a bit, eyebrows raised in surprise. Matthew glanced up at you and looked down to the side, letting go of your hand.
“I knew I shouldn’t have said anything,” he muttered, moving to stand up. He’d barely gotten to his knees when you tackled him in a hug, knocking him onto his back.
“I love you too, you goof!” you said, grinning down at him and giggling. He stared at you with his mouth hanging open, hands resting on your hips. You giggled again and gently shut his mouth. Your light touch seemed to wake him up, staring in your eyes for a moment before slowly inching his head forward to kiss you, giving you plenty of time to pull away if you chose. You just rolled your eyes and moved forward, connecting your lips with his.
A light thud made you open your eyes. You giggled again as you saw Matthew passed out, a bright red blush spread over his face.
“Oh Mattie. What am I going to do with you?”
Maybe growing up wouldn’t be so bad after all.

Matthew was so sweet. You really loved the poor fellow to death, but he was way too oblivious. Lost in a realm of books and fiction, he was unreachable to you on that level. And you were too shy to drag him back out.
But you were still trying.
Kind of.
You accompanied him to the library after school. You pretty much jumped at any opportunity to hang out with him, and hoped it didn’t bother him. So there you were, rubbing your bare arms to use friction to warm yourself. Matthew observed this, “Are you cold, _____?”
“I’m fine, Mattie.” you said with a smile, knowing he was the type to worry.
Still, he to

Matthew smoothed out the corners of the photo lovingly, pinning it up in his locker and giving it a gentle kiss. He looked it over carefully with purple eyes. It was his favorite one of the millions he’d snapped over the years. He could remember the day he took it like it was yesterday…

“N-No, Matthew! Please… I don’t want you to take my picture. I always look horrible in them.” (f/n) held her hand out so it covered her face from the camera’s sharp view.
“That’s a lie. You could never look bad.” Matthew turned pink at his own brave remark and hid his face behind the camera,

You hummed along to the song playing on your IPod as you made your way through nearly deserted park. Your breath created little clouds in the cold evening air. The sun was quickly setting now, and you could feel the oncoming snowstorm fast approaching.
You pulled your thin jacket more tightly around you. The weathermen had tricked you. They told you it was going to be in the 60s, and only drop to 50 during the night.
50 degrees my frozen ass.
You stopped. There was someone on the path, far enough that you could only make out their basic form. They appeared to be…………twirling?
Your eyebrows knit together and you

Here is the last request from my 300 watchers journal. And this is for and I am so sorry it took so long! I really hope you like it! I know you asked that America, France, and England be put in this, but I had a hard time thinking of a way to actually get them involved in this.
