“No.”
“Cullen…”
“Inquisitor-“ A sigh. “(Name). You cannot seriously believe this to be a good idea.”
“I don’t see why not. It isn’t as though I stole him.”
“No, but considering what he is I should hardly think that matters. And how do you even know it’s a he?”
“I took him to Dagna since she demanded to see him anyway.”
“That dwarf is going to get you killed one day, I swear…”
“She’s not that bad, Cullen.”
“But she-… We’re getting off the subject. Why did you think it was a good idea to bring an infant dragon back to Skyhold?”
“I told you already; his mother was dead and he was alone. I couldn’t just leave him there.”
“Yet you thought bringing him here was a better idea.”
--Not too much earlier in the day—
“You do realize that, based on your penchant for chasing after dragons, our dear Commander is going to have a fit, don’t you?”
“Oh, shush, Dorian. I’m sure he’ll warm up to the idea.”
The raise of an eyebrow was your response.
“…Eventually.”
“You sound very confident, my dear.”
“Well…it doesn’t matter. Because I’m bringing the little one to Skyhold and Cullen can fit himself into a stupor about it. Doesn’t change the fact that I’m keeping him.”
“As you wish, Inquisitor. But don’t expect me to be around when you share the ‘good news’.”
“Thank you so much.”
“I’m far too handsome to risk his wrath. Although I’m sure it would be very…awe-inspiring. You must tell me someday if he ever uses that energy in bed.”
“I’m not going to dignify that with a response.”
Dorian merely chuckled as the two of you stopped in front of the door to the Inquisition Commander’s office.
“Well. I shall leave you to it. Good luck.”
You waved a hand before knocking on the wooden door before you.
“Come in.”
Carefully tucking the sleeping dragon into your jacket, you entered Cullen’s office, shutting the door behind you. A smile appeared on your face despite the topic you were about to broach at the scene before you; Cullen hunched over some reports on his desk, a crease between his brows as he frowned at whatever he was working on.
“Busy as ever, I see.”
Your voice startled him, despite having given the go ahead to enter.
“Inquisitor-!” Realizing you were by yourself, he relaxed slightly. “(Name), I hadn’t realized you’d returned.”
“We finished up rather quickly and decided to head home early,” you said, making your way over to his desk.
Cullen came out from behind it to meet you halfway, wrapping his arms around you and leaning down for a kiss…only to stop as he felt something wiggle between your bodies.
Pulling back, he looked down at your clothing in confusion. “What is that?”
You smiled sheepishly. “I, um, have a surprise?”
Cullen eyed you warily, your tone setting off alarm bells in his head. “(Name)…what did you do?”
“Um…” You pulled the, now awake, dragon from your jacket. “I brought home a pet..?”
“……What?”
--Present—
“Clearly.”
Your Commander sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose to try and give himself a moment to let this sink in.
“You’re going to keep it no matter what I say, aren’t you.”
“I’m glad you didn’t frame that as a question because the answer is obvious enough.”
“Dagna may be the death of you but you will be the death of me.”
Laughter escaped you at that and you leaned up to peck his lips. “I take it that means you’re giving up.”
“I don’t have choice with how willful you are,” he muttered, but returning the kiss nonetheless.
You hummed happily. “See? You’re learning.”
“You, my love, are going to regret this.”
“Never.”
--The next week—
After some careful research, of sorts, you’d discovered your new pet; whom you’d named Tyrath; was able already to eat raw meat. Which you supposed made sense but you would rather be sure than try to feed him something he couldn’t handle.
So with this new knowledge in hand, you had begun to feed your little dragon all sorts of meats.
Currently it was feeding time and you happened to be in Cullen’s office for this particular one as part of your attempts to get him to get used to the new member of the Inquisition.
He was, however being very stubborn and not acknowledging your charge as he snapped up pieces of meat from your fingers.
A loud yelp caught his attention though and forced him to turn to see you cradling your hand and muttering curses to yourself under your breath. Worried, he hurried over to kneel next to you, gingerly taking your hand from you and wincing sympathetically when he saw the blood dripping from it.
In spite of himself, he couldn’t help getting an “I told you so” in as he wrapped your hand. “Starting to regret this?”
A fit of childishness took you over and you stuck your tongue out at him. “Never.”
--Several weeks later—
When you’d found the body of Tyrath’s mother, you’d recognized that she was an electricity breather based on her appearance. So you weren’t surprised when Tyrath began exhibiting similar abilities. You, and the rest of Skyhold, just hadn’t been expecting them so soon.
It had been about three weeks after you’d brought him to the Inquisition’s stronghold that he’d first burped out a ball of electricity that accidentally fried a chicken to a crisp. The shock of it lasted long enough for you to disappear with your little dragon; who seemed very pleased with himself.
A few weeks later and you’d managed to get him away long enough for him to gain some control of his powers in a less populated place. Now, you were confident he could roam Skyhold with you once again with no problem.
The two of you meandering through the courtyard when Tyrath let out a hiccup that sent out a shot of electricity that, thankfully, wasn’t enough to hurt but turned your once smooth head of hair into a ginormous ball of static.
Somehow, you managed to spy your smirking Commander up on the battlements as he watched you in amusement.
You only scowled and shouted defiantly as you attempted to get your mane under control. “No Regrets!”
--Two months later—
Another day, another demon. Such was your life now.
However, today’s demon was rather different. Today’s demon was actually demons; and formidable ones at that.
A routine trip home turned into something worse when Corypheus’ mages fell upon your group. Before you knew it, you were being overrun with demons and it was taking all you had to stay afloat.
Luckily, you hadn’t been too far from Skyhold, so forces had been sent out to help you deal with the problem, headed by your Commander.
His troop crashed into the melee with weapons drawn, taking down anything that stood in their way. They all fought fiercely but Cullen most of all, wanting to reach you as soon as possible.
Upon seeing your man and his soldiers, you let your guard down for a moment and several rage demons decided to take advantage of that.
Cullen’s heart nearly stopped as he saw you disappear behind several large, red, molten bodies. He urged his mount to go faster and prepared for the worst, but wishing so hard against it, when a deafening shriek was heard from behind. Before he could look, a flurry of wind blew past, forcing him to shield his head, and electricity crackled and filled the air.
When he lowered his arm, he saw you standing where you’d last been, unharmed and petting Tyrath’s nose as the last of the demons fled or were killed. The young dragon was still an adolescent, based on his size, but he was clearly a fearsome opponent.
Cullen leapt off his horse and ran to you, for once not caring what anyone saw or thought as he swept you up into his arms and pressed his face into your neck, the feeling of your arms around him reassuring him you were still here. He knew you were at risk every day but…seeing you disappear like that…seeing you disappear at all just-… After almost losing you at Haven, he couldn’t handle something like that again.
Your voice was shaky but you couldn’t help teasing. “Do you regret this now?”
Cullen managed a small chuckle, saying one word before crashing his lips to yours.
“Never.”
“Cullen…”

Chapter 4
“Commander?"
I froze hearing a voice on the other side of Cullens door. “Cullen.” I whispered but he didn’t seem to notice kissing the nape of my neck.
“Cullen, I think there’s someone-”
“They can wait.” he whispered back into my ear and sent trickles down my spine.
I gasped feeling his strong arms around my body and noticed that he was halfway done with taking off my shirt. I started to think his bashful manner towards romance was nothing more than an act. Above all else, I admit I w

You thought that after Corypheus’ defeat things wouldn’t be so hectic but boy were you wrong. Things around Skyhold got even crazier and you found yourself having less time to yourself as each day passed by. A sigh escaped your lips as you looked over some more documents given to you by Josephine. It was well into the night and yet you still had a lot to do causing you to sigh again.
“So much work” you muttered to yourself before you stifled a yawn. You tore your gaze fro

I've been playing Dragon Age: Inquisition.
Reader is whatever you'd like her to be. I've been playing as a Dalish warrior so that's what I imagined her as, but I left it open.
I own nothing.
You belong to Cullen who doesn't have an icon, why do so many of the men I write about not have icons.
